Who are the Red Vests?

The red vests are a Romulan-led organization that began in an effort to supply aid during conflicts within the Romulan empire. Formal training for red vests include an oath of non-violence and neutrality so that their aid is permitted in high-risk situations.

Organization Growth

Their work has been recognized in Klingon and Federation territories with hostile/neutral reception from Klingon territories. There are no Klingon red vests. Many Vulcans have embraced the red vests as a paved path for stronger Vulcan-Romulan relations.

The design of the red vests uniform within the federation is to allude and honor the risk involved in jobs that require hi-vis clothing, such as emergency responders or sanitation workers.

How did the Red Vests begin?

During a militant conflict, a Romulan field medic noticed that a Reman civilian had been injured in the crossfire. Using Romulan medical resources, she provided aid to the injured civilian. The action sparked conversation around the permission and utilization of Romulan resources on non-allies.
